Jaisalmer
Jaisalmer is one of Rajasthan's most exotic and unusual towns. "A
living museum" and the "Golden City" are just two descriptions
which has been applied to the desert put-outs. Places of visit are beautiful
mansions built by Jaisalmer's wealthy merchants known as Havelis. Gandhi
Sagar Tank, was once the water supply of the city. Jaisalmer, the city
of the Golden Fort is a fantasy in yellow sandstone in the heart of
the Thar Desert. The city was founded in 1156 by Rawal Jaisal, a Bhatti
Rajput King.
Jaipur
Capital of Rajasthan also known as Pink City, surrounded on all sides
by rugged hills crowned with forts and enclosed by embattled walls.
Visit to City Palace which now houses a museum containing rare manuscripts,
paintings, and an armoury, the observatory with a sundial 90 ft high,
the museum is amidst the Ram Niwas Palace gardens founded in 1876 with
alarge collections of antiques, the Palace of Winds, a landmark of Jaipur
made of Pink Sandstone and of unique design.
Udaipur
In Udaipur, the visitor finds his dream of India come true for the city
combines real beauty with picturesque associations of a great and glorious
past. It stands in a valley, amid green hills on the banks of the wide
blue lake Pichola. On little islands in the lake, from the water's edge
rises marble Palace in pure white which glistens like a fairy castles.
Crowning the ridge, in which the city clusters, along the shores of
the lake is the Palace of the Maharana. Within the palace is all the
magnificent views of the panorama below.
Khajuraho
Even if situated in the middle of nowhere, the Khajuraho temple complex
site is one the most popular places both foreign and Indian tourists.
